TOUGHBOOK CF-Y5 IS THE NEWEST ENTRY IN BUSINESS LAPTOP FOR PANASONIC

The Toughbook CF-Y5 is Panasonic's newest launch into the business rugged-notebook market where businesses may not mind investing a little bit more for something that will last and worth spending.
Design

The primary things we notice in this notebook is its weight. Including the power supply unit the laptop weighs just about 1.95kg, which is superb for a 14.1 inch LCD based laptop with a build in DVD writer. The CF-Y5 is also splash-resistant and Panasonic just stamps authority with this kind of feature laded onto the system. The laptop can also be dropped from an elevation of 30cm, although this isn't spectacular by any sense where in most cases notebook falls are likely to be from a desk more than double the height specified

Future Laptops To Become More Flexible

HP and ASU Flexible Display Center (FD) have developed e first prototype of what they claim is an "affordable, flexible electronic display".

Done working for the day? Simply roll up your laptop, tie a rubber band around it, stick it under your arm beneath this morning's newspaper and head on home. Well, we're not quite there yet, and HP is only talking about displays and not full laptops, but we are getting close here, people. The new display is flexible like paper but made entirely out of a tough plastic, making it theoretically unbreakable. The technology uses less power and requires far fewer raw materials than traditional LCD displays today. HP and the FDCcrea the displays using a technology called self-aligned imprint lithography (SAIL), which was invented by HP. Initial uses are expected to be in electronic paper and digital signing, but you could see it in phones and notebooks before too long. Via via

D-Roll Laptop Concept: Inspirational

Laptops of the future have arrived carrying shapes and designs as were never conceived before. No longer is it necessary for laptops to carry the traditional flat and slightly rectangular shape. In some time, it would be passé and almost unfashionable to be seen carrying a laptop of such an ancient design.

Though many cool designs have been offered for the laptops of the future, most are either unrealistic or two far away in terms of production. Some have awesome designs but fall flat when it comes to practicality. The D-Roll laptop concept wins on all accounts. Designed by , the D-Roll or Digital Roll laptop is intended to be the next generation laptop design and completely deviates from the traditional look of today’s laptops. Designed like an artist’s scroll, the D-Roll laptop has an OLED screen which can be rolled up and includes straps at the side for easy portability. The straps also work as places for USB plug-ins. The D-Roll laptop comes with a detachable webcam which can be worn on the body. The keyboard slides out and the laptop includes a mouse as well.

The D-Roll laptop may be a concept currently but the design is inspiring and would definitely catch the eyes of other designers wishing to create a better looking and practical laptop. If this hits the market, it would be swept off the shelves in no time.

Dual-Touchscreen Notebooks Might Come Out in 2010

In the future, tech analysts might look back at the Nintendo DS as being responsible for kicking off the touch-screen revolution. Since the DS's debut, we've seen take the mobile phone market by storm, Microsoft push its , caught glimpses of touch functionality expected to , and now it appears dual-touchscreen notebooks may be on the horizon too.

OLPC talked about using dual-touchscreens it its next generation . At half the size of the original, former OLPC CTO Mary Lou Jepsen says the XO-2 will employ dual indoor-and-sunlight displays capable of providing "a right and left page in vertical format, a hinged laptop in horizontal format, and flat, two-screen continuous surface for use in tablet mode."

But OLPC isn't the only one working on a dual-touchscreen notebook, and Italian industrial design agency V12 Design actually developed a similar concept as far back as four years ago called the Canova. Valerio Cometti, the founder and managing director of the firm, claims laptop manufacturers showed interest in the original Cometti and his company is now working on a second generation version. While Cometti remained type lipped regarding which U.S. based company is co-developing the dual-touchscreen laptop, he notes the will support multi-touch input with a software keyboard that appears on the screen. Haptic feedbeek might also be included.

Custom Laptop Designs

Former Alienware product development engineer Oscar Zapata launched a new company this week, called NVousPC (very clever!) that customizes laptops with any color paint or image you want. You can choose different colors for each part of the laptop, including bottom, and upload images to their website to be printed on. If you don't buy a new computer from them (starting at $999), you can send in your old piece for a paintjob as well (starting at $186). Or you can just send it to me along with $8 and I'll hook you up with some sweet holographic unicorn stickers, maybe a few garbage pail kids, and top it off with some scratch and sniffs for good measure.

TOSHIBA QOSMIO X305 REVIEW

• It's completed using 45 nm processes making it slighter and cooler while sprinting.
• It has 3 MB of level 2 caches versus 2 MB in last year's value processors.
• Profiting from the Penryn architectural developments makes it about 15% quicker than last year's Merom-based financial plan CPUs clock for clock.
• The most recent front side bus velocity of 1066 MHz is employed.
Next up is the chipset, in this crate Intel's PM45 (Cantiga) north bridge and ICH9-M south bridge. First the PM45; In toting up to supporting the quicker Front Side Bus velocities it also bring support for DDR3 which is both quicker and utilizes lower voltage. Although not significant in this particular assessment, PM45 also appends AMD Crossfire X support. Possibly Toshiba could modify things up a bit in the upcoming with a Crossfire proffering – 2 mobile 4850 GPUs would be pretty amazing.
DRR3 memory is not effortless to find in stores and moderately pricey (even though this will change swiftly). Toshiba endows the X305 with 4 GB of DDR3 sprinting at 1066 MHz - virtually double last year's 667 MHz customary. This laptop should be able to switch a sum of 8 GB when the 4 GB modules instigate to ship. When comparing gaming laptops are weary of variants that be sparing-with, by using the older DDR2 RAM.

ACER ASPIRE ONE AOA150-1126 QUICK REVIEW

Acer was perhaps the first company to present this height of performance in a "laptop".
This small notebook is the actual deal. The Acer does a fine job of playing streaming videos, which is about the greatest speed demand I will ever place on this machine. It is designed particularly for mobile devices, the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor exercises an a completely new design structure new hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–to conserve energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet–up to 5.5 hours with the included 6-cell battery.
It takes time to be habitual of the keyboard, but fast you can be with a little adaptation, and if your hands aren't too big to make such things impossible. It's physically about 60% the size of the "normal" keyboard on a regular laptop, lacks the number system keys totally but of course has Page Up, Down, Side to Side, full function keys from F1 through F12 for controlling the boot process, initiating a file recovery or System Recovery exercise, whatever...it's all there for that sort of thing, so score more points for Acer One there!

Gateway Launches Affordable but Cool Laptops

If you had been looking for the latest laptop in town, we have some good news for you. One of the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing laptops has just bee launched by Gateway. The company launched their TC notebook series which comes with a fourteen inch screen, 2GHz Intel Premium dual-core CPU among many other features.

If speed is your concern, the 4GB Ram must take care of all your virtual memory needs. With the Intel GMA 4500M graphics and a built in DVD burner, you are assured to have one of the best laptops possible.

It sadly runs on Windows Vista Home Premium and that may be the only bad point about it. It also comes with 320GB HDD and the price is quite affordable too. It would cost just $649.99 and weights just 5.3 pounds which makes it light as well. I would say, just go ahead and grab this thing for it is so cheap yet comes with such great technical specifications.

Ego lifestyle laptops by Inclosia

The Ego Lifestyle has created the E-Go, the world’s first line of lifestyle notebooks to incorporate real fabrics into mass production.

These laptops called Ego laptops can outdo your vanity and perhaps even give it an inferiority complex!

They don`t come in many shapes and sizes but they do come in many skin types. Pink for the girly ones, and these animal prints for the more wild at heart but your ultimate power trip in life- one with the leather jacket made out of snakeskin and another studded with diamonds.

Designed in part by a Dutch jeweller, the most expensive version features a diamond tulip on the front, and a diamond accent on the hand rest.

The cheapest version, the Tulip Ego, is making it to the US for Rs 2.25 lakh, but the other versions aren’t destined for US shores, presumably being reserved for Russian oligarchs and oil barons.

Shaped a bit like the original Apple iBook, the notebook has a helpful handle for carrying purposes, and can be customized with tiger and zebra print skins.

The specifications are well hidden by the glitz of the design, but your money buys you a 12.1-inch screen, an AMD Turion processor, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as well as a DVD/CD burner.

The Intel Mobile Metro notebook meets the following requirements: it is modern, supports all wireless network types and the latest mobile computing capabilities.
According to Roger Kay, the president of consultancy Endpoint Technologies Associates, for this concept, Intel used high quality resistant materials such as champagne-colored magnesium and decorated it with gold accents.

In Ziba’s view, this notebook is like a jewelry.
Intel Mobile Metro has a diary-like folder attached to it via magnets, capable of wireless charging.

More important, they are thinner and lighter than the current IdeaPad laptops.

Lenovo says the 16-inch IdeaPad Y650–at one-inch thick at its thinnest point and weighing 5.6 pounds–is the thinnest and lightest in its class. The 10.2-inch model will start at $349.

Finally, Lenovo announced it was getting into the all-in-one game, an area where there are now many contenders (HP, Dell, Gateway) but relatively few winners not including the successful Apple iMac. Based on a 21.5-inch “frameless” display, the IdeaCentre A series has a thick base that tapers to about an inch thick at the top. Like the IdeaPad laptops, the A series is geared toward home entertainment with full HD resolution (1,920 by 1,080 pixels), integrated sub-woofer and Dolby Home Theatre audio, TV tuner and optional Blu-ray player.
